So, what can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?

Posted by jph3 on February 12, 2009

Love him or hate him, Dave Letterman has done some good interviews over the years . . . such as this 1987 gem where Crispin Glover (aka George McFly in Back to the Future) nearly karate kicks him in the head.

Well, last night’s sit down with Joaquin Phoenix was one for the books too.  You won’t recognize him from the clip, but he is the Oscar-nominated actor from a couple of my favorite movies: Gladiator and Signs.

Dave doesn’t have a lot of patience for guests who come on the show blitzed, so it doesn’t take him long before he lets out the zingers, such as my personal favorite:

“So, what can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?”  HA!

The full interview seems to have been taken down from youtube, but here’s a highlights version:

And here’s a write up too.

To wrap it all up, Dave sent Joaquin packing by saying: “Joaquin, I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight.”

Classic.

it’s hard to tell whether Joaquin Phoenix was faking it or not during that Letterman appearance, especially since he’s such a talented actor…

Man, o man was this strange. I don’t watch Letterman that often these days (interferes with my heavy Food Network watching schedule) but I did see this one as it was happening.

I heard that he recently did one of those red carpet interviews where he talked about a feeling like a frog was jumping out of his head or something.

    Bizzarro, to say the least.

Donna – I hadn’t heard that about the frog thing . . . that’s pretty whacky. It’s too bad too cuz he’s such a good actor.

Wow, that’s pretty crazy. I have liked a lot of this guys movies, I can’t believe he is saying he won’t be acting anymore.

Good luck with that “hip-hop” career. Yikes.

  6. Hi
I stumbled across your blog on LDS BLOGS. I thought you mighe be interested in a site my wife and I just built called MormonsMadeSimple.com, which uses simple, explanatory videos to explain the Mormon faith. Feel free to feature any of these videos on your blog, or just share them with non-member friends. We’re hoping these videos will be missionary tools to help members share their beliefs. Anyway, sorry to spam your comments section. I couldn’t find any contact information for you on your blog.

    Wow – great, great site!

I am so happy to see folks trying to get our message out in any format! There is so much misinformation out there about the church! Your site is simple and non-threatening to users and really helps make the church basics understandable to inquiring minds.

I just discovered the “Mormon Messages” file on YouTube – great un-distorted video clips of leaders speaking. I recently promoted that on my family blog: happyvalleykellys.blogspot.com.

The more we can get the truth out the better!
