Happy Earth Day

Whenever I hear the song of a bird
Or look at the blue, blue sky,
Whenever I feel the rain on my face
Or the wind as it rushes by,
Whenever I touch a velvet rose
Or walk by a lilac tree,
I’m glad that I live in this beautiful world
Heavenly Father created for me.
He gave me my eyes that I might see
The color of butterfly wings.
He gave my ears that I might hear
The magical sound of things.
He gave me my life, my mind, my heart;
I thank Him rev’rently
For all his creations, of which I’m a part.
Yes, I know Heavenly Father loves me.
Oftentimes it’s the simplest things that make life beautiful.

You should give a prize to any who can read this without shedding a tear. On second thought, I doubt if we know such a person. That adorable Sophie is a prize to all of us.

I love the scripture – somewhere in the D & C – that talks about how some of God’s creations were for the sole purpose of the delight and refreshment of the human spirit. (My paraphrase, of course, I’m sure God said it more eloquently)
Isn’t it humbling to know that God loves us enough to create things for the SOLE purpose of our “delight!!”
Things I’m pretty sure are on the list: butterflies; roses; El Charro carne seca.
LOve to all!!
Come to Utah and see us!!!

This is Sydney’s favorite primary song of all. She sings it all the time and it makes my heart melt.
Thanks for sharing!!

Very nice. I should study the grass more often like your daughter in the picture. There’s probably a lot of wisdom to be found there!

Hi Donna – You are right on. I firmly believe that El Charro carne seca is in the top 5 of the all-things-ever-created-by-anyone-for-any-reason list.
Hi Mom & Vanessa – FYI, this little song actually helped provide my first spark of a testimony, back when I was 8 or 9 or so. I distinctly remember sitting in primary one Sunday singing this song and becomming overwhelmed with emotion – crying, etc – and I then realized that my emotions were alerting me to a connection with God. It’s a wonderful little tune.

John, thank you for sending thatstory re your “first spark of testimony.” I had never heard that from you before, but today is a great time to hear it since I am teaching Sister Beck’s talk on mothers. I plan to add the fact that mothers who know what’s essential will take their children to Primary so that they can have experiences like the one you described. Hope you don’t mind my sharing it with the sisters who know .
I love you, Mom

I was sitting next to Bret Haymore that day . . . he turned to me and said, “this song makes me cry too.” He was a great friend to me at the time.
Hope the lesson went well.

Funny your quote from Nacho Libre. I lOVE that movie!
Here’s another one:
I know that wrestlers get the nice clothes and the fancy ladies and the free lotions and cremes. But my life is GOOOD! I get to sleep in a bed by my self, all of my life! It is the best.
Also, I love the song ‘I am singing at the party,’
and the theme song ‘A real religions man.’ is awesome too. Great movie. We watch it all the time.
